Winters are the worst after we change the clocks back. I get it that everyone is excited about an extra hour of sleep, but seriously? That’s only one extra hour for one day, the rest of my days are screwed up. Knowing how my sleep pattern is, I don’t normally get to enjoy that extra hour anyways.
I’m always tired because it’s always dark. I feel like by the time that my son and I get home from our daily routine of school and work, we need to go to bed. It’s dark, which leaves us no time to roam outside and run out some energy. It keeps us pretty limited, which is not very much enjoyable at all. I feel more drained by it.
So, here we are, it’s daylights savings time again, except we just changed the clocks forward for Spring. This is the type of change that I need! It stays lighter much longer. I honestly need the sun in my life, it gives me happiness and motivation. This type of change also tells me that spring will be coming very soon. Because we live in Maryland and mother nature is confused around here, the weather has dropped from 71 degrees to 27 degrees with snow arriving tomorrow night. But I’m not really bothered by it, because this will probably be our last snow and then we can move into spring soon. The sun will still stay out longer and that’s all I need to keep me uplifted.
I can’t wait to set up a tent in the backyard, chase lightening bugs, play soccer and ride bikes with my son, again. I miss our sweet little picnics as well. I’m getting excited that we are getting closer to spring. There are so many adventures that awaits us. Sometimes, it’s just about simple pleasures as well. There is something about wearing a sun dress while cooking dinner with the windows open and the sun pouring in. I honestly can’t wait for those moments again. Moments create memories.
As much as it was harder to get up this morning, I still felt more refreshed and ready to take on the day, because of the time change. I can’t wait to come home to the sun. My son can’t wait to run outside to enjoy the sun as well…of course when it’s warmer again.
